Rosalia and Hemma

In the centre of the room, there is a medieval water basin with two heads deriving from the Rosalia spring on the Hemmaberg Mountain. Before it was brought to the spring it had presumably been used as a font in the church of Globasnitz.

Rosalia and Hemma

In 1926, the chapel and the statue of St. Rosalia were ruined by the fire. A well-known artist Switbert Lobisser (1878 - 1943) created a plaster model for the statue that was made by the sculptor Hans Plangger and put up in the renovated chapel.

Rosalia and Hemma

In 1627, both financial managers of the parish had the fresco and six oil paintings painted for the church of St. Hemma. Due to baroque conversion, the paintings with scenes from the life of Saint Hemma could no longer be hanged in the original arrangement in a house of God. That is why the church was reconstructed into a museum.
